Check a hotel price beyond the nightly rate

Compare hotel stays at the final total, including the location and conditions attached to the booking.

Price the whole stay

Enter the same dates, number of guests and room requirements for each option. Compare the total payable, identifying any amount paid later at the property. Read what is included before assuming breakfast, parking or other services are covered. The cheapest displayed nightly rate may describe a different room or a less flexible booking.

Keep refundable deposits separate from spending, but allow enough available money for them. A temporary hold can affect what you can use during the trip even if it is ultimately released. Check the hotel's own stated arrangements for the particular reservation.

Include the location

Suppose a hypothetical two night hotel costs $90 a night, with $20 daily parking. That makes $220 before other applicable charges. Another costs $105 a night with suitable parking included, totalling $210. The apparently more expensive room is $10 cheaper for this specific stay.

Distance can reverse the result again. Add the actual transport needed to reach your planned activities. Do not assign savings to a hotel breakfast unless you would otherwise buy a comparable breakfast. A benefit you will not use should not be treated as money already recovered.

Compare the conditions you need

Read the payment date, cancellation deadline and any changes allowed under each offer. A lower prepaid price may be suitable for a firm trip, while a changeable itinerary may justify paying more for flexibility. Evaluate that difference using your own uncertainty rather than assuming either type is always better.

Save the booking details and check the total once more before confirming. For a shared room, agree how extras will be divided before one person pays. Include the stay in the wider trip budget so an attractive accommodation offer does not leave too little for meals or travel. The useful result is a place that fits the whole visit, not merely the smallest number beside a room photograph.

Compare quotes close together and retain the details, because changing availability can make an earlier price impossible to book.
